Soccer Kicks- No sound, nothing engaging about it, a kid walks at a painstakingly slow pace towards a soccer ball. This is composed as an extreme long shot, and honestly it isn't even entertainging enough to be on youtube. Not news.
Covered Bridge- iReport user who shall remain anonymous is just the absolute queen of un-newsworthy stories. First her honeymoon, now a picture of a covered bridge. Just unecessary, I really don't believe I need to say much more, Learn what belongs on a CNN website, and what belongs on a personal blog. Not news.
Hurricane Proofing The Beach- A short piece with decent content, though due its lack of technical camera use it would never be vetted by CNN. If he was really ambitious he could talk to the people who run the beach, and this could very well be news if it was done extensively and more technically.
Hola, going to school in the Mountains of VT, living the dream one day at a time.

Soundslide Critiques
Fresno State's Collegian put out an audio soundslide of the college's first Native American Pow Wow. The pictures were very gripping and colorful, as there were absolutely no filler shots. The audio starts out with traditional native american music playing and then fades to an interview with a student participating. It is pulled together really well and the images are absolutely stunning and very vivid. This soundslide was very well done.
I unfortunately watched a soundslide on a bowling team. The shots were all the same, and I understand you can only get so many bowling shots, but they could've mixed it up a little bit and tried to get creative. It was not at all engaging unlike the Native American soundslide. There was no imagination or effort with the photos at all, and that really hurt this very bland soundslide.

The Photo Gallery was a compilation of very beautiful photographs of Vermont's fall foliage. There is not a picture here that is not captivating, it is shot by guests and submitted, but they are all breathtaking. This is a great photo gallery that is most importantly engaging and extremely gripping and captivating. I really liked this photo gallery.

Despite Rough Off-Season, Men’s Basketball Looks Ahead
If you walk down the athletic hallway in between the Rita Bole gym and the theatre lobby, you will see a team picture for every varsity sports team here at Lyndon State College. Last season’s Men’s basketball team picture has 17 student athletes in uniform, however, only two of those student athletes will be included in this season’s team picture.
Senior guard Ben Sackett and Junior Forward Jason Gray are the only two returning players from last year’s squad which made a deep run in the NAC playoffs. Sackett led the NAC in 3-point percentage last season shooting an impressive 44 percent from beyond the arc. Gray was a second team All-NAC selection last season and was the third leading shot blocker in the NAC, and was ranked 6th in the conference in rebounds per game.
Last years roster included nine first-year players, none of them will be suiting up to play this year. The youth on the team combined with strong veteran leadership and made a run all the way to the NAC finals. Gritty post play from Antonio Mena, O’Bee Byrd and Jason Gray teamed up to lead the NAC in team rebounding while NAC rookie of the year Phil Warrick led the Hornets with 18.7 points per game (3rd in the NAC).
The team’s schedule this year consists of Division 1 opponent Yale as well as attending an invitational tournament over Thanksgiving Break in Utah. The team will be filled with new faces this year, and expectations for this team are on the rise.

Podcast Reviews
The first Podcast I subscribed to was Hidden Universe by NASA. I subscribed to it because I've always been incredibly curious about what lies beyond planet earth. Though I did not sync this up to my Ipod, I quickly learned many things and got to see many very well detailed images. The visuals make it entertaining and though it is scientific, it is certainly not boring. This was a really good find, and I definitely suggest looking it up to see some nice Deep Space images.
I listened to Sports Illustrated NBA Podcasts, Episode 30: NBA Draft Preview, this one was all audio and I subscribed to it because I am an avid fan of basketball scouting. The audio ones can get a bit monotone at times and though it was present here, I enjoyed how in-depth they went at analyzing prospects and bringing in Chris Ekstrand. I did not put this on my ipod, though I did like their analysis and their expert opinions which had a high success rate.
"We go places without cell phone signal, and we solve our problems, in single files we go down dusty trails where it smells like pine trees and sage, we grow closer and help eachother steer our lives."
I stumbled upon The Dirtbag Diaries by Fitz Cahill and was attracted by the cover of a man dusted with snow walking in the cold. In The Way of the Underdog he tells a story of a man named Jason, it appears that I shouldn't care about some random guy, he's a normal kid, however this isn't about the story, but the way its told. The way you can sense how real and in tune Jason and his friends are. The short musical interludes and incredibly vivid memories make this podcast special. The Way of The Underdog also has an inspiring appeal to it, the emotions they express are very easy to relate to. I will definitely be falling asleep to this one on my Ipod sooner than later.
